Mr. Okonkwo holds an LL.B (Hons.) and LL.M degrees of University of Lagos, Nigeria. He also received an Advanced Diploma in Commercial Law and Practice from University of Lagos. Mr. Okonkwo was accordingly admitted to the Bar of the Federal Republic of Nigeria upon his successful completion of the requirement of the Nigerian Council for Legal Education. He worked with the West African Examination Council for over a decade before joining McCarthy Mbadugha & Co.

Mr. Okonkwo is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and Centre for Oil Pollution Watch. He has attended several international seminars and conferences. Mr. Okonkwo heads the oil and gas practice group of McCarthy Mbadugha & Co. and his areas of interest are:
